Coroners & Inquests
With a pre-eminent reputation in coronial law and inquests,
Temple Garden Chambers act in many of the highest profile and most
complex cases in this field.
We appear in scores of cases each year, acting for Government
departments, enforcement agencies, local authorities,
prisons, care homes, employers, trade unions, drivers, insurers,
and individuals and organisations whose conduct is under scrutiny.
We also represent many bereaved families and are particularly
sensitive to their needs.
We appear on behalf of coroners themselves, both at inquests in
the role of "Counsel to the Inquest" and on judicial review of
Coroners' decisions. Certain Members of Chambers sit part time as
Assistant Deputy Coroners.
High profile inquests include those into the 7th July 2005
London Bombings, the deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales and
Dodi Al Fayed, the Corus blast furnace explosion, and the
death of Robbie Powell.
We also conduct and defend claims for judicial review arising
out of the conduct of inquests and provide advice and represention
for the claims and prosecutions that can arise when an inquest
finishes.

Naturally much of our work in this field inter-relates
productively with our expertise on Health and Safety
matters and in Public
Inquiries.
